Warmer Weather is around the Corner. Here are 7 Tips for Getting Your Home Ready for Spring.

Spring has sprung and potential buyers are on the move as they set their sights on their new summer oasis. During this time, the market sees extraordinary demand and an increase in higher sales. Not only is it the perfect time to get spring cleaning underway, it’s also a great opportunity to prepare your home to increase its value for when you are ready to sell in a competitive market.

Add these seven tips on your “to-do list” for getting your home ready for spring!

1. Schedule Inspections.

As the weather warms up, it's essential to have your air conditioning units inspected by a certified professional to ensure safety and longevity. Remember to check your gas barbeques and outdoor fixtures to avoid damage or potential hazards.

2. Fix Cracks

As spring approaches, it's important to repair any cracks in your foundation, walkways, and porches to prevent further water damage. Additionally, ensure your patio and walkways slope away from your house to avoid water pooling near the foundation.

3. Caulk, repair and wash windows.

Properly sealing gaps between windows and repairing any signs of decay in wood trim or sills can prevent water damage, pest infestations, drafts and reduce energy bills. Regularly inspecting and maintaining these areas can save homeowners time and money in the long run.

4. Check gutters and downspouts.

Before the spring rains start, inspect and clear gutters and downspouts of debris to prevent clogging and potential damage to your home. Also, check for any damage to chimneys and roof shingles during this process.

5. Tend to the garden.

To improve the appearance of your yard, prune dead branches, remove obstructions, and spread mulch around trees and shrubs. Use strategic planting to conceal unattractive aspects of your house or yard, and add large pots or hanging baskets to enhance your porch or stoop.

6. Freshen Up

Improve your home's curb appeal by restoring your door with a fresh coat of paint and polished hinges and knobs, and ensure a warm welcome with a new welcome mat and a working doorbell. Keep your exterior tidy by sweeping walkways, clearing cobwebs, tightening railings, and repainting posts and supports.

7. Tend to Home Interiors

Spring is more than just the time to focus on home exteriors. Check safety measures such as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Be sure to replace or clean furnace filters and any fireplace to ensure a healthy living environment.
